ABOUT
Studio GG05 design was founded by Shirley Gelber-Golan. An architect and a self taught ceramic maker with over 20 years of experience in leading architectural and interior design firms.
The studio's basic esprit is clean, simple and pure - I don't believe in excessive or effortful design, because so much can be achieved through simplicity. I do not strive to perfection but to purity.
When Toshiko Takaezo (a ceramic artist) was once asked, what is the most important piece of her ceramic work, She replied “It is the hollow space within, because it can not be seen but it’s still part of the pot”. This concept sums up accurately my work on both disciplines.
Over the past 8 years, in addition to my architectural work, I established a ceramics studio that operates parallel to and complements my design work.
As part of the design process, I am exposed to the daily habits and to the needs of my clients, and I have always searched for ways to complete my architectural and interior designs with objects that speak the same language. My collections are influenced by architecture, nature, textures, shapes and abstract forms. The objects produced are on the border between art and function, natural in tones and structure.
